Answers to your questions about DPF and catalytic converters

A diesel particulate filter is a device designed to remove diesel particulate matter or soot from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine. The goal is to make the surrounding air cleaner and safer, especially in confined spaces. Since 2009 when the ‘Euro 5’ standard came into effect, exhaust emissions standards for new diesel cars have effectively required fitment of a DPF to the exhaust system.

Gases released as a result of the combustion of diesel fuel are filtered in the DPF and the DPF becomes clogged over time. Because it a filter and designed for filtering so normal its get clog. As you know, there is a regeneration system in vehicles. This system works at certain periods and burns the soot accumulated in the DPF. During regeneration, the temperature inside the DPF rises up to 700 C, but regeneration becomes insufficient after a certain period of time. During regeneration, ash is formed as a result of combustion. These ashes allow the soot to stick and over time, the DPF becomes clogged and regeneration becomes useless.

The vehicle should be maintained regularly and particulate oil should be used. You should use quality diesel fuel. You should not use the vehicle at low speed for a long time. When you see a regeneration warning on the dashboard, do not stop the vehicle, follow the instructions and complete the regeneration. Get to know your vehicle, bring your car to mechanic and want diagnostic if you hear an abnormal sound or smell.

Proably dpf will melting about high temperature if you keep drive with blocked DPF because blocked DPF will block air flow which is coming from engine side so temperature increase inside DPF and its will melting. Also engine and other valued components like turbo , egr(oil cooler) will get fail so you will have healtless engine and a lot of cost. So our highly recommend is get dpf cleaning service when you see dpf warning light on dashboard.

There are many methods for cleaning DPF today, but most of them damage the DPF or are not successful in cleaning it. DPF is damaged a lot, especially in cleaning methods that use acidic-based chemicals. In the cleaning method performed in the oven at temperatures up to 1200 degrees, the DPF cracks because it gets very hot and cools down quickly. The most harmless and safe cleaning method is EMIRMAK's method. EMIRMAK performs hot water and alkaline chemical-based cleaning. Air pressure is used during cleaning and hydynamic technique is used to remove soot and ashes. After water-based cleaning, stage 2 cleaning doing 100-250 C temperature and high air flow so dpf will be cleaned almost 100%.

EMIRMAK offers the most advantageous method compared to its competitors. You can do water-based DPF cleaning, thermal drying and stage 2 DPF cleaning with one machine. It also measures back pressure, that is, 3 functions in one machine and the whole process takes an average of 1 hour. Our water-based cleaning method: You can do both hot and cold washing in our machine. There is a circulation pump for cleaning and an average of 10 tons of water per hour is pumped into the DPF. In competing systems, some water and some air are pumped, but this method is very weak compared to our method. In our system, both air pressure and circulation. Our pump has pressure and high flow so its will be more effective than competitor and you dont lose time. Stage 2 Thermal Drying DPF Cleaning 100-250 C hot and high flow air is pressed into the DPF, this process continues for a while, the DPF dries and the remaining dirt inside the DPF is cleaned.

A catalytic converter is part of your vehicle’s exhaust system and its older technology than DPF. Dpf is builded in 2008. Diesel catalytics are designed to reduce airborne pollutants due to a call to reduce dangerous emissions from vehicles. Catalytic converters were originally designed in the 1970s for gasoline engines, but catalytic converters started being installed in diesel engines in the 1990s.Catalytic converters reduce the impact of over 90% of harmful emissions and toxins by converting them to carbon dioxide and water – including carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and hydrocarbons. In short, catalytic converters ensure that vehicle engines are healthier for the environment and for humans.

Diesel engine catalytic converters are different from gasoline engine vehicles, but the concept in that they introduce oxygen to neutralize harmful gases remains the same. In a diesel catalytic converter, the interior of the metal casing has two ceramic blocks with thousands of micro-cellular units. These ceramic blocks are coated with precious metals, usually palladium and platinum, that heat the blocks up and catalyze the chemicals – turning them into harmless gasses. One primary difference between diesel and gasoline catalytic converters is that diesel catalysts do not use rhodium.

Catalytic converters, just like DPF, become clogged over time because the catalytic converter also filters the gases coming from the engine. Catalytic converters are older technology than DPF and have lower filtration, so catalytic converters pollution takes more time than DPF.

Catalytic converter melt is more common in gasoline engines, mostly because LPG is used. The catalytic converter melts in gasoline vehicles using LPG. The reason is that LPG when this gas burns, it produces more heat than gasoline, and this damages the engine in the long run and causes the catalytic converter to melt.

In gasoline engines, although not as much as diesel engines, the combustion of gasoline releases harmful wastes along with the gas, and these gases are filtered in the catalytic converter and the wastes cause the catalytic converter to clog. Since gasoline is more flammable, although the waste it leaves on the catalytic converter is less than DPF, it is more permanent and harder and harder to clean, so everyone thinks that gasoline catalytic converters cannot be cleaned. But its wrong because we cleaned thousands gasoline catalytics until today and all is works good so gasoline catalytic cleaning possible with EMIRMAK technologies.

There are many methods today to clean the catalytic converter as to clean the DPF. But traditional methods do not work or are too costly and troublesome. EMİRMAK DPF cleaning method also works on the catalytic converter. The EMIRMAK DPF cleaning machine program can be changed so that a recipe suitable for catalytic cleaning is given and the EMIRMAK DPF cleaning machine can easily clean the catalytic converters. Especially gasoline catalytic cleaning is very difficult, so mechanics say that it cannot be cleaned and needs to be replaced. Gasoline catalytic cleaning is also possible with the EMIRMAK DPF & Catalytic converter cleaning machine..

Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) is an advanced active emissions control technology system that reduces tailpipe emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) down to near-zero levels in newer generation diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. SCR is developed on 2014 and its came with Euro6 engine. The SCR system involves several components packaged together with other parts of the emissions control system. Each manufacturer has its own variations of the type and sequencing of different components in the system.

In the realm of diesel engine emissions control, two key technologies stand out for their effectiveness in reducing pollutants: Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems. Both systems play pivotal roles in minimizing harmful emissions, but they function differently and have distinct advantages.Diesel engines are renowned for their efficiency but have historically posed environmental challenges due to higher emissions of particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxides (NOx). The development of emission control systems like DPF and SCR has revolutionized the diesel industry, significantly reducing harmful pollutants.

SCR systems excel in reducing NOx emissions, which contribute significantly to air pollution and are a key target in emission reduction strategies. They are highly efficient in reducing nitrogen oxide levels, allowing diesel engines to comply with stringent emission standards. Additionally, SCR technology doesn’t affect the engine’s performance and fuel efficiency.Relies on AdBlue replenishment but generally requires less frequent maintenance compared to DPF systems. There are various types of DPFs, including wall-flow filters and cordierite or silicon carbide-based filters, each with its structure and materials.

So we can say scr and dpf a kind of catalytic honey comb filter just shape and walls are diffrent. SCR is newest filter and its more sensitive than older technologies for better filtratation.

Selective catalytic reduction, just like DPF and catalytic, can clog over time. Although manufacturers say that selective catalytic reduction will not be clogged, this is not true. Even if the Adblue quality is high and the AdBlue injector works correctly, residues will accumulate over time and selective catalytic reduction will clog.Because this system have a filter and all filter are designed for hold dirties so it will clogged with over time.

Selective catalytic reduction can also be blocked due to the use of poor quality AdBlue. Generally, a crystallized stone surface occurs in selective catalytic reduction, this is because of Adblue and the water and urea levels are irregular in AdBlue.

Sometimes the AdBlue injector can also break down. If the injector breaks down and it inject too much AdBlue, selective catalytic reduction may be clogged due to unstable AdBlue. If the Adblue injector breaks down and it inject little or no AdBlue, selective catalytic reduction may be clogged because regeneration does not occur at this time.

Selective catalytic reduction is usually blocked by AdBlue, and sometimes the inside of the cabin is completely covered with crystallized stones, making it impossible to reach the catalytic. Catalytic is reached by breaking the stones, but this is very dangerous, you can damage the catalytic while breaking the stones. You can easily clean Selective catalytic reduction with the techniques we will give you with EMIRMAK DPF cleaning machine and auxiliary solutions. If you apply 3 stage EMIRMAK SCR cleaning recipe you will have 98% cleaned SCR.
